Guest Post: Karen Eck on the Shibumi Logo Treatment

The following is a guest post by artist Karen Eck. You can find Karen on the web at her Karenee Art site, view her gallery, follow her on Twitter, and connect with her on Google+. Thanks Karen for your awesome creativity!

Since I love the concept of shibumi, I had to illustrate the word even though I don’t consider myself a designer.

The seven principles and shibumi apply so well to art. I have grown into working in this manner, and it was a surprise to find words that fit these concepts so well. I love it when a discovered truth resonates with other thinkers and dreamers and I discover myself part
of a community I hadn’t known existed.

Shibumi can stand on its own, implying the principles that support its meaning within the shape of the letters.
